get pinned

I started a Pinterest account a few months ago, but didn’t really know what to do with it. It sat lonely for a little while, but I decided to give it another shot a few days ago and now I’m officially hooked.

What is Pinterest?

“Pinterest is a social catalog service. Think of it as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can post collections of things you love, and ‘follow’ collections created by people with great taste.” (via Pinterest about page)

Basically, when you’re on a website or a blog and you find an item or an image that you’re in love with, you can “pin it” and add it to a virtual pinboard of your choice. Several boards are already created for you when you create an account, but you can delete or revise them, or add more of your own. You can also follow other users’ pins (I love Kelly’s and Joy’s in particular) and re-pin their finds to your own boards.

I love that I’m being introduced to items and images that I would not otherwise find in my daily perusing of my favorite blogs and websites. It’s a great way to get inspired and discover new products, artists, styles, etc. at a glance.

Want to follow my pins? You can find me here. If you’d like to start your own Pinterest account and need an invitation, comment below and I’ll invite the first 10 commenters (who comment using valid email addresses — no need to post your email address publicly in your comment). You can also request an invitation directly from Pinterest.

Happy pinning!

Monday morning pick-me-up

Chances are, many of you are returning to work today after many days away from the office — days spent relaxing, feasting, and enjoying the holidays with loved ones. I have a sneaking suspicion that you may need a little pick-me-up. And I think I found it.

You’re welcome.

“even if it’s bold italic”

Whether you’re a designer or not, you will hopefully get a good laugh out of this video… it’s an hilarious homage to one of my favorite fonts, Neutraface, put to none other than Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”

The lyrics… the “choreography”… the half-assed set design. I love it! My favorite performer is the (beardless) guy with the bow-tie and Waldo glasses. He takes his moves VERY seriously.

lasers, lasers, lasers…

Between Happiest People Ever, Sleeveface, and now We Have Lasers!, I don’t see how a day without laughter could ever be conceivable. Laughter truly is just a click away.

Priceless photo via We Have Lasers!!!!!!! Thanks to Jenny from Geek in Heels for introducing me to this hilarious blog.

Even celebrities are submitting their laser portraits.

Did you beg your mom to spring for the laser background on your school photos?

need a giggle?

I love finding a website that makes me laugh so hard that I have tears coming out of my eyes. I found Happiest People Ever the other day via A Blog About Things. It illustrates “what happens when photographers forget to tell people to say cheeeeeeese.” We all have these photos stashed away somewhere. Just check out some of these extremely happy people:

If you’re not laughing, something is wrong with you!
